ABOUT THE NORTH CAROLINA PSYCHOANALYTIC FOUNDATION Six visionary individuals established the North Carolina Psychoanalytic Foundation in 1995 as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization to advance psychoanalytic understanding of human mental life and behavior through education and service.
Our organization and our mission have evolved since those early days, but we remain committed to our roots. The mission of the North Carolina
Psychoanalytic Foundation is to help individuals and our community understand
and alleviate problems that lead to emotional suffering and disability, and to
enhance their capacity for personal development and improved community
functioning. The NCPF is led by a multidisciplinary board of directors and is supported by a growing cadre of members, donors and volunteers who make all we do possible. Membership is open to everyone who shares an interest in psychoanalytic perspectives and wishes to support the Foundation's work. See Membership. The NCPF sponsors a Psychoanalytic Speakers Bureau, a Prize in Journalism, an Annual Public Lecture and other programs that apply psychoanalytic ideas and perspectives to real issues and problems of importance to the community, and that promote better understanding of psychoanalytic therapies. The NCPF is committed to ensuring that psychoanalytic education and treatment will be available to future generations of The Foundation also is actively raising funds and building an endowment to support psychoanalytic education and outreach.
