MEMBERSHIP SUPPORT
NORTH CAROLINA PSYCHOANALYTIC FOUNDATION

With your membership in the Friends of NCPF, we are:

Building bridges in service to the community.

  • Developing an Open Minds Clinic for free, low and reduced fee psychoanalytic psychotherapy. Through the Open Minds Clinic, the NCPF is beginning to work with the Orange County Rape Crisis Center to help recruit therapists to provide counseling services to some of its clients.
  • Offering customized talks on human development and emotional health through the Psychoanalytic Speakers Bureau for organizations and agencies such as the Wake County Alcohol Treatment Center, Raleigh Charter High School, UNC Greensboro, Wake County Health and Human Services and others.

Advocating for access to mental health care and psychotherapy in North Carolina.

  • Signing on as a partner of NCMentalHealthVote.org, a non-partisan project that aims to create a more informed candidate and voter on issues concerning North Carolina's Mental Health system. [NCPF does not endorse any candidate or political party.]
  • Sponsoring Outside the Lines, a UNC-TV documentary on the stigma of mental illness.

Mobilizing resources to support psychoanalytic programs, education and training.

  • Building the David Raft Community Outreach and Education Endowment to support psychoanalytic education and training. To contribute to the Raft Endowment, please make your check payable to NCPF and indicate Raft Endowment or give online and note in the Comments box that your gift is designated to the Raft Endowment.
  • Spearheading an international exchange to enhance training, research, teaching and clinical experience by collaborating with the psychoanalytic institute in Cuernavaca, Mexico. In September 2008, the NCPF will bring Dr. Alejandro Salamonovitz to the Triangle for four days of programs, case studies, community outreach and small group discussions.
  • Promoting lectures, seminars, courses and study groups to hundreds of mental health professionals and trainees through the NCPF listserve. E-mail us at info@ncpsychoanalysis.org today to join this list.

 Did you know?

  • In 2007-2008, a portion of your membership support was used to raise awareness of psychoanalysis in North Carolina and the many world class resources, community programs, clinicians and teachers that enrich our community. Learn more about specific outreach projects by clicking here.
  • The NCPF relies on the generosity of individual members and donors for close to 75% of its budget.
  • In 2008-2009, a portion of your membership dollars will be used to further develop some of our new initiatives, like the Open Minds Clinic.
  • Our work is carried out by a dedicated cadre of volunteers from the community and from the psychoanalytic profession with support from two part-time employees.
There are many ways you can show your support. You can....

  • Donate your used books at the Book Shop in Chapel Hill and direct the proceeds to the NCPF
  • Volunteer your time and talents in our Raleigh Office

  • Join the Friends of NCPF

  • Join the 12/12 club! Make a multiyear pledge that will be matched by NCPF Board Member and Benefactor Bill Jackson. Bill will contribute $20,000 annually for five years (until 12/12!) for every $30,000 we can raise in multiyear commitments. We're about halfway toward that goal and with your help, we can do it!

  • Volunteer on one of our committees - development, outreach and advocay or public lecture, to name a few.

  • Make your future travel arrangements through iGive.com and a percentage of your travel costs will be donated to NCPF.

  • Join Team NCPF in next year's Walk for Hope.
