Harold Kudler, MD

The North Carolina Psychoanalytic Foundation is honored to highlight one of its former Chairman and current Board Member, Harold Kudler, MD. Dr. Kudler is the coordinator for mental health services for a three-state network of the Department of Veteran Affairs. In addition, he is Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Duke University and an Advanced Candidate in both the Adult and Child programs of the Psychoanalytic Education Center of the Carolinas.  He was a founding member of the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Study Center of North Carolina and is the recipient of multiple awards for teaching including the American Psychoanalytic Association's Edith Sabshin Award for Excellence in Psychoanalytic Teaching. Dr. Kudler is the current chair of the NCPF Development Committee and co-chairs the North Carolina Governor's Focus on Returning Veterans and their Families.

Through Dr. Kudler's efforts, the North Carolina Psychoanalytic Foundation has provided outreach to our state's military families using Sesame Street Workshop's
Talk, Listen, Connect programs. Dr. Kudler serves on the Advisory board for the Talk, Listen, Connect initiative project and has presented this program throughout North Carolina. This initiative provides support and offers significant resources for military families with young children experiencing the comings and goings associated with deployment or the return of a parent with visible or invisible injuries including Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, Traumatic Brain Injury and/or Major Depression.
