September 2006 - May 2007 (Wednesday, 28 sessions) 6:45-9:30pm Advanced Curriculum in Psychoanalytic Theory and Technique (AC) PPSC/NC Two-year intensive course of weekly classes open to licensed mental health professionals. Class provides solid foundation in the theory and practice of psychoanalytic psychotherapy. Sections of this course are taught by members of the NC Psychoanalytic Society and coordinated by Rebecca Goz, PhD. It is expected that students will have completed a degree program in a mental health-related field, that they will be already licensed in their appropriate fields, and that they have a familiarity with the concepts covered in the PPSC's Introductory Course. September 12 - November 21 (Tuesday, 10 sessions) 6:30-8pm Psychoanalytic Perspectives Nancy Livingston, MD, Instructor. PIC This course offers an overview of psychoanalytic perspectives as first presented by Sigmund Freud and then developed and modified by later investigators. Key theoretical controversies, emphases, and deficiencies which spurred development of various "schools" of psychoanalysis will be discussed. We will explore the history of psychoanalysis in a broad cultural context and as influenced by the personalities of major figures in the field. Basic contemporary, cutting edge research questions and points of divergence and convergence among theoreticians will offer perspectives on developing trends in psychoanalysis. Enrollment will be limited to 15 students; a minimum enrollment of 5 will be necessary for the course to be offered. CME and CE credits will be available. Transference and Countertransference

The integration of mind and brain is at the cutting edge of contemporary thought and will be explored in this course. Directions To LDF and LDCEC Lucy Daniels Foundation (LDF) is located at 9001 Weston Parkway in Cary, NC. The Lucy Daniels Center for Early Childhood (LDCEC) is located in an adjoining building at 9003 Weston Parkway in Cary, NC.
From I-40, Take exit 287, Cary/Harrison Avenue. Proceed towards Cary on Harrison Avenue, approximately one-half mile. Turn right onto Weston Parkway and travel for 1.5 miles. The LDF is across the median on your left. Continue driving another 0.1 mile and make a U-turn in the median break. You may park alongside the building and in the upper parking lot. The LDF is in the first building on your right as you enter the parking lot, while the LDCEC is at the far end of the parking lot.
