From Depression to Expression: A Pan-American Psychoanalytic Reawakening

with special guest Alejandro Salamonovitz, PhD

September 19-20, 2008

Papers for each event are posted below next to the program they are associated with.

Dr. Alejandro SalamonovitzAlejandro Salamonovitz, PhD, a former physicist, has been in the private practice of psychology since 1986.  He trained as a psychoanalyst in the 1990's and went on to become the President of the Circulo Psicoanalitico Mexicano.  In 2004, he founded the Circulo branch in Cuernavaca, a resource center for the teaching and practice of psychoanalysis for the more than one million people of Cuernavaca that includes a low-fee psychoanalytic clinic.

He has been a prolific author, teacher, and supervisor throughout his career, and has been continually involved in the treatment of refugees and economically disadvan-taged persons.  His doctoral thesis, Del Silencio a la Palabra:  Reflexiones Psicoanaliticas sobre la Depression combines his theoretical interests in depression with the social and political perspective gained through work with such traumatized patients.
